EMERGENCY ROOF LEAKS

24-HOUR emergency service is available. If you have an after-hour leak, please contact 604-946-3011 and a crew will be immediately assigned for you. Unlike most roofing companies, our On-Call Service is not an answering service but an actual Continental Roofing employee who works from the time the office closes to 7:30 am. She answers phones, texts or emails and then schedules a person or team to go out to your emergency after-hours leak.

New Roof Installations

We install various flat roof systems including SBS Torch on, EPDM (rubber), TPO, Cold Applied Systems and Tar & Gravel and are certified installers of most major material manufacturers. The majority of our large projects are fully inspected and completed to RCABC standards. We carry $10 million dollars of liability insurance and full WorkSafe BC coverage.

Sheet metal flashings for your project are custom-manufactured in our shop. Our professional sheet metal crews install the custom made metal flashings on site. Custom made sheet metal flashings can also be installed as a long-term solution to some roof leaks.

Continental Roofing's commitment to a sustainable future makes us a leader in BC's commercial roofing industry. We are making efforts to continually reduce our carbon footprint by the way we run our business. In the image above, for example, Continental installed this light colored TPO roof which is believed to reflect heat, not absorb it like black EPDM roofs do, thus saving energy costs in the warmer months.

They measured their third greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory and during this period, they reduced their emissions from garbage by 26%. Their emissions from transportation has reduced by 23% and emission from paper consumption has reduced by 18%. Their reduction in emissions from transportation in largely due to a mobile app they use that allows their technicians to submit work remotely. Moving forward, Continental Roofing will continue to implement strategies aimed at reducing emissions from garbage, equipment, heat, and paper consumption." STRONG VANCOUVER ISLAND PRESENCE

Continental Roofing was excited to announce the opening of a Vancouver Island Repair and Maintenance Division in 2012. Our service area has extended from Duncan to Campbell River. Continental now provides many Island properties with Preventative Roof Maintenance inspections. We have extended this service to include 24-hour roof leak response, roof repairs and installations.

Your roof evaluations and repairs are in the capable hands of a long time Continental Roofing journeyman roofer. Island customers now receive the same prompt, professional service and comprehensive reporting that we provide to our mainland customers.

As an incentive for clients who enter into a Roof Maintenance Program with us, we include a free roof evaluation. These evaluations include a roof condition report with photos and a satellite roof image. Our technician identifies visible membrane and flashing weakness and make recommendations for repairs and maintenance. Based on the age, type and condition of your roof system Continental provides budget costs and schedules for roof repairs and replacements. If the roof system is in imminent need of replacement we can provide a budget estimate and a list of qualified, RCABC approved, Roofing Consultants. These firms write roofing specifications for your project and solicit roofing quotes on your behalf.

Upkar provides leadership, direction, management, and vision to our financial reporting systems and ensures the company's financial strength by safeguarding assets and maintaining financial stability. Upkar also oversees the company's payroll along with the compliance of government legislations.

Ron has been involved in roofing for most of his life and started out as a labourer in the roofing industry. Kelly Joined our team on Vancouver Island over four years ago and worked in the Victoria and Nanaimo area completing Health and Safety as well as assisting on Repair and Maintenance work. CONTINENTAL ROOFING SAFETY PROGRAM

With currently around 90 employees “under our roof”, Safety is a full-time job for Continental Roofing. We work together with all stakeholders (Management, workers, WorkSafe BC, clients, and suppliers) to ensure the safest worksites, equipment, and training for our crews.

We employ a full time CSO (Company Safety Officer) to ensure compliance with regulations, development and updating of safety systems, supervision of site safety initiatives and compliance with COR.

We also have a robust and active volunteer Occupation Health and Safety Committee that meets each month to ensure that safety issues, concerns and trends are reviewed, and adjustments are made to keep workers safe. At Continental Roofing worker safety is more than a saying, it’s a way of doing business.

CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION PROGRAM (COR)
Continental Roofing has achieved the Certificate of Recognition Program rating each year since 2005. The COR program is an employer incentive program developed by WorkSafeBC that assists employers to develop proactive, effective, and advanced health and safety systems. The result has been a significant reduction in work place injuries and an exceptional WorkSafe BC experience rating.


Continental Roofing has trained its employees in First Aid, Fall Protection, Asbestos, Lead, Silica, WHMIS and Torch Safety. Another group of intrepid attendees updating their training. Continental trains its employees in First Aid, Fall Protection, Asbestos, Lead, Silica, WHMIS and Torch Safety.

The 2024 COR MAINTENANCE AUDIT IS NOW COMPLETE
Our external auditor passed us with a mark of 84%.

I just want to take a few minutes to thank all those who participated and assisted with this year’s audit. From foremen who participated in the audit, to those who gave up the production time of crew members to be interviewed. To the workers who worked hard all year learning safe work procedures, policies, and company requirements, and putting them into practice on the sites. A special thank you to Lisa Hearn from Human Resources who was invaluable in gathering documents, proofing for grammar, and overall help with the audit.

I see a trend in increased and better-quality hazard assessments, better record keeping, and overall higher safety IQ during this audit. We have a lot of work to do in the next year where gaps were pointed out by the audit, but with this team – no problem.

ROOFING CONTRACTORS OF BC (RCABC)

APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

We are fortunate to have 15 young roofing and sheet metal apprentices enrolled in the Roofing Contractors of BC (RCABC) Apprenticeship Program in the 2023/ 2024 school year. Instead of subcontracting work, we develop and use our employees for roof installations and service. This program paired with our in-house training helps and encourages our employees to become journeymen and women and achieve their Red Seal certification.

We also provide our employees with First Aid, Fall Protection, Torch safe, WHMIS , Asbestos and Supervisor Training.
